As in the past three years our choir is joining forces with Everyone Can Sing
this May to raise money for the charities we are supporting this singing year.
Regular leaders of the runners; Jason, Simon, and Pete are busy training. Here on a 12 mile run.
Simon and Pete also did a 19 mile run recently and Jason is building the miles too.
Sponsors can donate to one of the charities or to both separately through the websites below. UK taxpayers can opt to gift-aid their donations via these direct giving sites.
From April 1st 2026 all donations to the two charities via these portals will be counted as Marathon sponsorship. Both giving sites alow messages to be connected to the donation, so please mention the participant you are sponsoring/supporting. Please also note that you will be charged a fee for using these sites, but you can reduce or even forgo this towards the end of the process.
If sponsors wish to pay cash, use bank transfer or make card payments these will be collected by the WBSS treasurer and split between the two charities after the event has concluded. Details of how to pay via WBSS can be found below.
On the day there will be buckets for cash donations at all the refreshment stops (see below) and there will be a card machine at WB Methodist Church (start and finish).
Bank transfers can be made to the WBSS bank account with the reference: Marathon'26.
Account: West Bridgford Social Singers (some banks prefer WB Social Singers or just Social Singers)
Sort Code: 40-35-19 Account Number: 01563394
What might you do to help raise funds?
As well as running various distances (up to a full marathon) and walking (various distances up to half a marathon) and cycling (distances yet to be confirmed), we have someone scooting and in previous years we have had people adding up their swimming for the weeks leading up to the event, as well as using rowing machines on the day. See our page about last year's event.
Please let us know if you have an activity in mind. Contact simonthompson62a@gmail.com.
